Food Safety

Safety From the Source – Our Plant Base

BGH has developed a customized food safety program that is exclusive to our business. Based on the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standard, the program manages soil quality, water quality and drainage and strict employee training to ensure all factors result in fresh and healthy produce.

Our product traceability system enables monitoring of all aspects of the supply chain. Along with microbiological testing, third-party and government audits ensure our produce is safe.

Safety at our facilities

Our production process abides by strict ISO22000 regulations and our own internal standards. Our plant is routinely audited by third parties and government agencies.

Our facilities utilize the world’s most advanced processing technology to ensure all produce is triple-washed and disinfected in a temperature-controlled environment. Produce is then sealed using Modified Atmospheric Packaging to maximize nutritional value and extend shelf life. The entire process guarantees our produce’s safety and freshness.

Due to our pristine track record and unique capabilities, our retail salad brand “Miss Veg” has been identified as a “Green Food” by the Chinese Food Development Center.

Safety through Cold Chain

Our sophisticated cold chain ensures all products are kept between 1-5 degrees Celsius, from harvest to shelf. Immediately after being harvested, produce is loaded into specialized cold-chain trucks that are tracked by our GPS system. Information such as location and temperature is uploaded into our Transport Management System that tracks the fleet in real time. When produce is delivered to our facilities, its information is uploaded into our Warehouse Management System.

After cleaning and processing, our produce is sealed into Modified Atmospheric Packaging and delivered via our fleet of trucks to thousands of stores around China.

Throughout the entire process, our Transport Management and Warehouse Management System provide key information such as product origin, destination and current location. This allows for full traceability along the entire supply chain -from the shelf right back to the field it was grown in.

Beef Safety

BGH selects beef from internationally recognized livestock species such as Australian Wagyu and Canadian Angus. Selected cattle are all grazed on sustainable pastures that promote a natural immune system without antibiotics. This results in sustainable, tasty and natural beef.

Canadian Cattle

Canadian cattle, at birth, are registered in the National Livestock Verification system. A unique ear tag is applied to cattle that tracks it throughout the entire beef program, resulting in full traceability of the product. The entire Canadian beef program follows strict HACCP guidelines as well as Chinese government regulations to ensure the upmost safety in final products.

Canadian cattle are brought up on high-quality grain that contains no hormones or antibiotics. This results in Canadian beef offering rich, fragrant qualities that boast superb, natural taste.
